Our Surgery

The Veterinary Health Centre was acquired in 1995 by Mrs Siuna Ann Reid. Since this time, the practice has continued to grow and develop into one of the leading veterinary surgeries in the North West. We remain an independent surgery and are not part of a conglomerate.

The Veterinary Health Centre has a dedicated team of staff, all striving to provide a professional and complete range of services to keep your pet healthy and happy. We take pride in the knowledge that we have a great range of modern and sophisticated equipment.

It is important to us that your pet receives as many treatments necessary in the same facility, therefore lessening the need to travel to different locations. This is why we provide an extensive range of diagnostic procedures all under the one roof.

In an emergency situation, clients of The Veterinary Health Centre have twenty four hour emergency care which is all given at our practice. At a stressful and potentially life threatening time, the same telephone number and building applies for all emergency work, both in the evenings and also at weekends and on bank holidays.

We are also an Approved Training Centre for Nurses and currently work with Myerscough College.

The Veterinary Health Centre participates in the voluntary inspection programme administered by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Around half the practices in the UK are accredited. We have been awarded a General Practice- Small Animal Certificate. www.rcvs.org.uk/practice-standards-scheme

The Feline Advisory Bureau run the Cat Friendly Practice scheme to which we are affiliated: www.fabcats.org/catfriendlypractice

We constantly aim to be the most caring and professional practice in our field striving to provide a service we consider to be second to none.

At The Veterinary Health Centre our aims are:

  • To provide top pet care at affordable prices.
  • To be comprehensive and up to date with all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery.
  • To provide a caring, friendly, sympathetic and wholly professional service.

The receptionists are a very important part of our practice. They are the first members of our team that the client will meet or talk to on the telephone. Although it can sometimes be a challenging and difficult task dealing with people in times of distress, our receptions always endeavour to be caring and professional.

Our reception area also has a small shop. Our main food is Proplan. This range provides tailored nutrition for dogs and cats throughout all stages of their growth and development. Due to the large numbers of exotic clients, we stock a selection from the Arcadia range supplying ultraviolet lights, necessary for the well being of our reptile and bird clients.
